Offered for sale are six parcels of North Carolina mountain view property on the eastern side of Rich Top Mountain in an area called Quest Cove located in Haywood Countys Crabtree Township.
Quest Cove is a community of property owners with a common interest in fostering low density development of high quality. Towards this end, the Quest Cove community has adopted covenants designed to guide development in a manner that insures the value of your investment will be protected and the quality of life at Quest Cove will be preserved.
Quest Cove is in Bald Creek Valley which is, in my opinion, one of the nicest areas in Haywood County. Bald Creek Valley runs north-south and is bounded to the east by Lee Mountain (4200 ft) and to the west by Rich Top (4000 ft), Long Levels (4400 ft), and Crabtree Bald (5300 ft). Quest Cove is unique in that the cove was once grazing pasture, thus providing you with magnificent unobstructed views of the mountains.
When you visit here, I invite you to drive the entire length of Bald Creek Road (about 5 miles) all the way to Haywood Gap and investigate the development that has occurred in the valley over the years. And I mean really look around. Drive up McCracken Farms Road and see for yourself the new and very attractive houses that have been built. A half mile north of Quest Cove is the delightful Crabtree Farms community, and a couple of miles farther north youll find the new Triple Creek Meadows development. In the end I believe you will be as enchanted with the valley as I am.

Despite the recent slowdown, land values in Haywood County have continually risen over the past several years. Your purchase will represent a solid investment, especially as retiring baby-boomers discover Haywood County and decide it is an ideal retirement location. And, the opportunity to acquire land in this growing community is a good way to diversify beyond equities. If you care to, you can do a little comparison shopping at Homes and Land of Haywood County.
Whether you are buying for a vacation or retirement home, if you love being deep in the beauty and peace of the North Carolina mountains but want to be near the modern amenities of 21st century life--and have easy access to a major interstate and airport--Quest Cove is an excellent choice.
If you are ready to pursue your dream of building a home at Quest Cove, I invite you to contact me at greg@brownworld.com with any questions you may have. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you very much.

But here in the Crabtree area your average parcel runs around three to five acres and you are several miles away from commercial development of any kind. Here you will be enveloped in arboreal seclusion yet remain as convenient to everything this part of the world is famous for (all distances given are road distances, not "as-the-crow-flies" distances).
For example: you are 30 miles west of the major city of Asheville; 39 miles to the Asheville Airport (no more than 50 minutes door-to-door... I timed it myself since I travel for a living); less than 15 miles to downtown Waynesville, which has a beautifully restored main street; big box shopping (brand-new Lowe's, Wal-Mart, etc.) is all within 15 miles, as is the new Haywood County medical complex; and of course you're right next door to the Pisgah National Forest and the Smoky Mtn National Park is only 12 miles away; 20 miles south to the Blue Ridge Parkway; 20 miles north to the Appalachian Trail; and finally, you're a very convenient 7.6 miles from I-40 exit 24 (1.4 miles down the mountain, 1.6 miles on Bald Creek Rd, 2.1 miles on Upper Crabtree Rd, and 2.5 miles on Crabtree Rd).
Learn more about Haywood County. Here's a link to the Haywood County Chamber of Commerce, and here you can find demographic information on Waynesville. The new Riverbend Elementary School is only 5 miles away. The excellent Tuscola High School is adjacent to the Haywood County medical complex.
Parcels A, B, F and G dramatically overlook a beautiful valley of working farms and offer magnificent views of the valley and mountains to the east and south, while due west and north is nothing but forest. The setting is, quite simply, pastoral. And, except for the occasional cow bellow or hawk screech, it is profoundly quiet at Quest Cove.
The build site on parcel C is a bit unique in that it is nestled directly in front of the laurel forest, which is quite beautiful, providing you with a more sheltered sense of presence. A small spring-fed brook runs through parcels C and D.
There are hundreds of acres of nothing but undeveloped forest directly to the west and north of you. Of course, I don't know how long that will last as Haywood County has become quite popular. But the Crabtree area is not Maggie Valley, which is about 20 miles to the south-west. Don't misunderstand me-- Maggie Valley is drop-dead beautiful, and generally you can't go wrong buying property there. But it is fairly developed and geared a bit towards tourism. You may not be able to tell during the day, but drive down US 19 at night and the mountains on both sides of Maggie Valley are lit up like a Christmas tree.
